Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Mason to join our team. As a Mason, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, stone, and other similar materials. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently, and that they meet the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Responsibilities

Construct, repair, and maintain structures using brick, stone, and other materials
Lay out work according to blueprints or specifications
Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto a slab or foundation
Cut, shape, and finish stones or bricks using hand or power tools
Ensure that structures are level, plumb, and straight
Patch or replace damaged brick or stone work
Clean and maintain tools and equipment
Construction and Masonry Work:

Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stones, and other materials to construct or repair structures such as walls, floors, chimneys, and patios.
Build frameworks or structures using mortar and adhesives to hold materials in place.
Follow blueprints, drawings, and building specifications to meet project requirements.
Preparation and Mixing:

Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and measuring areas for construction.
Mix and apply mortar, cement, or adhesives in the correct proportions for masonry work.
Structural Integrity:

Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and structural integrity of built or repaired surfaces.
Check that construction complies with safety and structural standards.
Repair and Maintenance:

Repair cracks, chips, or damaged sections of masonry work.
Replace deteriorated bricks, stones, or tiles as needed.
Material Handling:

Select appropriate tools and materials, such as bricks, stones, concrete, or tiles, for specific projects.
Cut and shape materials to fit the design and layout of structures.
Finishing Work:

Apply finishing touches, such as cleaning and smoothing surfaces, to achieve a polished appearance.
Seal and protect masonry surfaces using appropriate coatings or treatments.

Desired candidate profile

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mason
Knowledge of different types of masonry work, materials, and techniques
Ability to interpret blueprints and layouts
Strong physical stamina and hand-eye coordination
Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using masonry tools, such as trowels, hammers, levels, and mixers.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans.
Physical Skills:

Good physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work long hours.
Precision and hand-eye coordination for detailed work.
Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality construction and repairs.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and supervisors.
Problem-solving abilities to address challenges during construction projects.
