Job Description

What You Get To Do:

Working directly as a Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver you will be able to assist in a residential group home by assisting people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration. The Lead DSP (caregiver/mentor) is responsible for providing:

  • Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety. Some examples include helping with meals cleaning and facilitating fun activities.
  • Handson mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
  • Positive direction to the individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
  • Provide medication administration and ensure persons medical well being.
  • Act as a role model for staff in the use of the Dungarvin policy manual and policy implementation.
  • To attend team meetings providing input and followup as needed.
  • To monitor all documentation systems in the service site to ensure accuracy thoroughness and timeliness.
  • To assist the Program Director in locating substitute staff for open shifts.

If interested in a Behavioral DSP role to be successful in this role we are looking for candidates with prior experience with intense high behaviors both verbal and physical! You will provide supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities people who are faced with metal health behavioral and/or significant medical challenges! We are looking to hire staff who are patient have good decision making and crisis management skills and who will not be intimated by these behaviors.  Prior IDD mental health psychiatric and/or security experience is strongly preferred.


Qualifications :

What Makes You A Great Fit:

  • Valid Drivers License (due to transporting persons served)
  • Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Candidates must be comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required 
    • Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and autoliability insurance based on the role
  • Experience with adults with mental health issues disabilities or related experience

Nice to have: 

  • Prior education and/or experience in residential services for the developmentally disabled preferred
  • Prior experience leading peers/ coworkers
