Job Description

The ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) exists within the organizational structure of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) under the supervision of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps Officers civil service staff and contractors comprise the healthcare professionals working together to provide quality healthcare services. IHSC serves as the medical experts for ICE for detainee health care. IHSCs mission is to provide medical care to maintain the health of individuals in the custody of ICE through an integrated health care delivery system based on nationally recognized correctional detention and residential health care standards. The Agency is committed to providing healthcare services to protect the nations health reduce global disease and provide medical support for the law enforcement mission of the safe apprehension enforcement and removal of detained individuals involved in immigration proceedings. IHSC is committed to ensuring a system of care that is ethical responsible and accountable through rigorous surveillance and monitoring activities.


Qualifications :

  • Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • One year credentialing experience preferably in the medical/healthcare environment.
  • Experience in automated credentialing systems.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) by the National Association Medical Staff Services.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the credentialing and privileging process requirements and scope of practice.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite credentialing upon request.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service.

  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) in order to develop positive rapport with coworkers and other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of and moderate proficiency in common Microsoft Office programs specifically Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all functions related to healthcare worker and other contractor staff credentialing recredentialing and privileging in accordance with regulatory/compliance guidelines as well as IHSC requirements.
  • Responsible for obtaining and verifying credentials certifications state licensures and other professional credentials as well as maintaining ongoing checks to ensure that all credentials remain current.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credential/privileging files whether in hard copy or electronic form.
  • Initiates and follows through on all aspects of the credentialing process including initial and recredentialing for all healthcare and other staff as needed.
  • Prepares and generates healthcare worker and other staff credentialing/privileging packets and provides guidance to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct various background checks from a wide variety of sources as needed to verify the credentials and suitability of candidates including but not limited to: NPDB OIG/GSA National Sex Offender Registry and the National Student Clearinghouse.
  • Maintains new hire as well as ongoing credential files for IHSC staff and makes them accessible as needed. Ensure they contain evidence of all certifications required including training requirements.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the currency of all credential files. Verify that annual or other training/licensure is completed on a timely basis and that credential files are updated to reflect the current status of all staff
  • Produce monthly and ad hoc reports to identify any missing data or credentials any credentials/certifications that are lapsing and the status of employees credential files
  • Verify/validate employment experience education licensure residency and other training specialty board certification or current eligibility and any other information from a resume curriculum vitae etc. as needed.
  • Document all work performed to ensure that all information is properly recorded and tracked
  • Works closely with vendor recruiting staff as needed to provide updates on the status of activities and notify them of the outcome of research.

ONCALL REQUIREMENTS

  • HSC operates 24/7/365; this position may be required to respond during an emergency activation.
  • Oncall availability is not required for this position.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The Department of Homeland Securitys Personnel Security Unit (PSU) must render an Initial Preliminary Favorable Fitness Determination to be considered a qualified candidate.
  • A Complete Favorable Fitness Determination must be rendered by PSU upon completion of initial and between subsequent background investigations to meet the requirements of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer telephone etc.
  • Ability to lift carry and move up to 30 lbs.

Compensation Min: $24.00 Max: $25.00

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
