Job Description
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: International SOS is looking for an individual who is experienced as a phlebotomist to collect blood instruct patients and prepare samples for testing
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform blood collection requiring knowledge of clinical science to understand the multiplicity of tests and specimen requirements the mechanics of venipuncture and patient preparation.
- Positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting. Perform phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples.
- Collect specimen in multiple areas including inpatients outpatients and emergency room.
- Draw labs appropriately based on urgency categorizations (STAT ASAP Timed Routine).
- Accession and receive samples into VA laboratory information system package for in house testing or send outs to reference laboratories.
- Transport specimens to the laboratory including those requiring special handlings.
- Safeguards electronic and paper patient information.
- Answer the phone and direct calls toother laboratory sections.
- Establish and maintain effective interpersonal skills and good customer relations with patients families and all other medical center employees.
- Provide general clerical and administrative support for the area.
- Stock and maintain specialized supplies used in the drawing area.
Qualifications :
- Minimum three (3) years phlebotomy experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Physical Requirements:
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Compensation Min:$20 Max: $ 32
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
