Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Crossing to provide technical leadership and oversight for critical projects in the Oil & Gas Renewables and Construction sectors. The SME will ensure the successful design execution and completion of HDD crossing activities while adhering to international standards project specifications and safety protocols. This role will be based in Basra Iraq and requires collaboration with diverse teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on HDD crossing projects including feasibility studies design reviews and execution strategies.
- Oversee planning and implementation of HDD operations ensuring compliance with project requirements and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to optimize HDD methods and mitigate potential risks.
- Conduct detailed assessments of site conditions including soil subsurface and environmental factors to inform HDD execution plans.
- Develop and review projectspecific HDD designs procedures and technical documentation.
- Monitor and guide HDD operations onsite to ensure adherence to timelines budgets and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during HDD execution minimizing downtime and cost overruns.
- Ensure compliance with international standards and best practices (e.g. ASTM API DCA) for HDD activities.
- Train and mentor project teams on HDD techniques and technologies to enhance overall competency.
- Prepare detailed reports including lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on advancements in HDD technology applying innovations to enhance project performance.
Qualifications :
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in HDD or trenchless technologies are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1015 years of experience in HDD crossing projects within Oil & Gas Renewables or Construction industries.
- Extensive knowledge of HDD equipment techniques and site management.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex HDD projects in challenging environments preferably in Iraq or similar regions.
- Skills:
- Expertise in HDD design execution and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical assessments and environmental compliance.
- Excellent problemsolving communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing technical documentation and reports.
