Job Description
Join us in modernising our clients COBOL applications! You will be responsible for designing coding and testing complex COBOL programs and integration services ensuring they are not only functional but also elegant and efficient. Collaborate with talented teams including business analysts and other developers to translate intricate requirements into innovative technical solutions.
Embrace agile methodologies to deliver projects quickly and effectively adapting to changing requirements and prioritising tasks to maximise impact. Participate in daily standups sprint planning and retrospectives to maintain alignment and foster a collaborative team environment.
Your attention to detail will be crucial as you conduct thorough unit and integration testing identifying and fixing defects before they affect our clients. Contribute to code reviews to ensure code quality adherence to best practices and promote knowledge sharing among team members.
Mentor and guide junior team members nurturing a culture of continuous learning and growth. Share your expertise through training sessions workshops and documentation empowering your colleagues and enhancing the teams capabilities.

Qualifications :
- Core COBOL: Strong proficiency in COBOL programming including syntax data structures and file handling
- Mainframe Technologies: Extensive experience with mainframe environments (z/OS) JCL VSAM CICS and PL/I
- Database Management: Solid understanding of database concepts SQL IDMS and IBM Db2
- Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. REXX Python)
- Problemsolving: Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaborative teams
- Clientfacing: Strong clientfacing skills and ability to build rapport
