In short the responsibility areas are described below
Retail processes EndtoEnd: The retail process is to describe how IKEA work with retail throughout that value chain. It start with our identity the range. How we manufacture and supply the range to the franchisees and then how to communicate sell and customer fulfillment. The process indirectly defines the capabilities IKEA need and at least half of the process and capabilities is defined and managed by the franchisees.
Digital capability areas: It is the different capabilities the support retail concept and consist of both subject matter experts process people but also the digital tools as needed. Tools as currently provided are for example IKEA Digital Design System Skapa IKEA Knowledge graph Visa Retail Guidance Range Selection Tool etc.
IKEA.com and IKEA.net channels: Is the external brand building top domain of IKEA online. It is not the sales channel that sit on the franchisee side but the rather the part that explain for the customer audience of who we are.
Retail Operation Solution and Support (ROSS): It is the combined upper funnel of IKEA.com retail websites as mainly contracted by IKEA IT AB but also the lower funnel of customer checkout payment order orchestration fulfillment finance customer support and supply. This is a combination of capabilities from Supply and the Microsoft 365 Dynamics Enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform provided as a service to most of the non INGKA franchisees.
The job as Accessibility Engineer provides support for the Retail Concept Operations digital products as part of the digital capability areas.
About you
You believe that creating great digital products and services means that they are fit for purpose and accessibility engineering is a mean for supporting the business. You have extensive experience in software engineering web content accessibility guidelines and especially frontend development for customer facing applications. You love to work in an agile environment where your closest friends will be the UX manager UX designers content communication specialists digital ethics specialists but also other software engineers. You have a strong curiosity and interest in the IKEA concept understand brand inclusiveness and commerciality as digital accessibility is very much in line with the IKEA business idea A better everyday life for the many people.
In addition we expect
Minimum 5 years of software development experience
Minimum 2 years handson working with WCAG implementation on customer facing applications on the engineering side
Experience of performing testing assessments and compliance audits of digital accessibility
Strong communication skills to effectively share knowledge. Create technical guidelines train others and present technical concepts to internal audiences
Good knowledge of IKEA.com IKEA.net and eCommerce
Experience of agile and domain driven product development
Familiar with frontend development frameworks like React and Svelte.
Ability to change direction as appropriate based on new ideas approaches and strategies
Ability to collaborate with others (including virtual) such as team members stakeholders and suppliers to achieve goals
Good ability to communicate technical concepts and processes clearly at an appropriate level to team members stakeholders and suppliers
Ability to understand the complexity of IKEA business and the role of technology as an integrated part of the business
As an accessibility engineer you will
Develop run and maintain highquality code in the area of digital accessibility but as a supporting function across the products in Retail Concept digital area.
Use and improve accessibility engineering frameworks such as for example framework for screen readers give guidance and provide expertise help across and within the products in Retail Concept digital area but also outside the area i.e. other development areas at Inter IKEA group.
Be part of the new established digital accessibility services group with digital ethicist UX accessibility designer UX designers where digital ethics as the overarching domain.
Take part 2540% as a regular software engineer in any other of the products in the Retail Concept product portfolio focusing on digital accessibility. For example helping out with digital accessibility in the IKEA.com global development.
Additional Information :
This position is fulltime (40 hours per week) and is located Malm Sweden. Some travel will be required.
