Job Description
As Science & Infrastructure Facilitation Officer you will have the following responsibilities;
- Supporting coordination planning development and implementation of the CMIP data infrastructure.
- Providing facilitation support and management of relevant CMIP and WIP task teams and joint activities with the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF).
- Providing communication support to CMIP data infrastructure activities and engaging with relevant communities.
- Promoting equity and inclusivity in CMIP data access.
- Organising and facilitating infrastructure relevant meetings workshops conferences training sessions and other activities relevant to CMIP.
- Reaching out to relevant wider communities such as PANGEO Copernicus and other emerging communities.
Qualifications :
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- Masters degree in climate related sciences or other appropriate scientific field.
- At least three years of relevant work experience.
- Significant expertise in project/programme management of large scientific and/or data infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience of research/science facilitation.
- Experience of coding languages including Python C or Fortran.
- Expertise in working in an international environment with globally distributed teams.
- Excellent organisational interpersonal communication and mediation skills.
- Proficiency in English.
The following would also be desirable:
- PhD in climate science particularly climate modelling.
- Qualification in project or programme management.
- Qualification/experience in data science and/or data infrastructure management.
- Experience working with climate models and climate data including familiarity with CMIP.
- Experience in science communication and outreach.
