Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the financial integrity of portfolios within the Banks Real Estate franchise including oversight of the month end close. The role will provide technical support for new products and acquisitions and maintain and develop strong relationships with the business operations and outsource providers. The successful incumbent will be a key driver of the Financial Control Change and Process Improvement agenda.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage two direct reports and ensure appropriate training and supervision to ensure a high performing team within Financial Control.
  • Ensure all month end accounting entries and reconciliations are completed in line with timetable to ensure a timely general ledger close to facilitate reporting. Ensure data integrity through oversight of controls checks and reconciliations.
  • Oversee month end processes including loan balances EIR accounting and accrued interest.
  • Manage the month end consolidation process for the Banks subsidiaries.
  • Oversee the Fixed Assets Register and accounting for dilapidations and IFRS 16 leases.
  • Manage month end processes for Third Party forward flow portfolios. Create and maintain strong relationships with respective business areas and outsource administration suppliers.
  • SME for internal and external change with focus on the implementation of new forward flow portfolios and driving forward the Financial Control process improvement agenda by identifying systems/processes that can be improved and providing solutions.
  • Preparation of information for external auditors and production of audit papers for Audit Committee.
  • Ensure that the Bank maintains financial controls appropriate to current and future developments and operational loss events are reported on a timely basis.

Qualifications :

  • ICAEW ACCA CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with 23 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working in the Financial Services sector
  • People management experience and a good team player
  • Experience of using SUN general ledger system (or equivalent) would be advantageous
  • Reconciliations experience
  • Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
