We are looking for an experienced Truck Driver to serve our supply chain logistics department in a safe and timely manner.
Responsibilities
Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
Input “macros” into our automated system for each stage of the loading and unloading process
Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Collect and verify delivery instructions
Report defects, accidents or violations
Transporting Goods:
Safely transport goods from the origin to the destination as per the assigned routes and schedules.
Ensure timely delivery while adhering to deadlines.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection:
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check the truck's condition, including tires, brakes, lights, and fluids.
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as refueling, cleaning, and minor repairs.
Report mechanical issues or necessary repairs to the appropriate personnel.
Compliance with Laws and Regulations:
Follow traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies at all times.
Maintain accurate records of hours of service (HOS) and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Adhere to weight restrictions and cargo handling requirements.
Proven work experience as a truck driver
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
No recent moving or driving violations
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
Trucking school diploma
Valid truck driving licence
Technical Skills:
Ability to operate and handle large commercial vehicles safely.
Knowledge of vehicle inspection procedures and basic maintenance.
Proficiency in using navigation tools like GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail to ensure cargo safety and compliance.
Effective time management skills to meet delivery schedules.
Good communication skills for interacting with dispatchers and customers.
