General Summary
- Under general supervision performs patient care based upon treatment plan developed by a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with the Maryland State Physical Therapy Practice Act. Assists in the overall departmental operations with maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Qualifications :
- Graduation from a curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy Association for Physical Therapists Assistants.
- Licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners is required.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Ability to learn and practice appropriate safe work procedures and practice positive guest relations skills.
- Ability to comply with policies and practices regarding safe handling of patients.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time while performing physical therapy support services.
- Ability to work with patients possessing potentially infectious disease using the appropriate Standard Precautions and other safety procedures.
- Effective verbal communication skills are required in order to work with patients and therapists successfully.
Working Conditions
- Weekend shift work holiday oncall and overtime may be required.
- Work requires standing for extended periods of time while performing physical therapy support services.
- There is potential for regular exposure to patients possessing infectious disease requiring observance of Standard Precautions by wearing protective clothing and following safe work practices.
