UM Capital Region a member of the University of Maryland Medical System is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Nursery team to meet join our growing Obstetrics and Neonatal program at UM Capital Region Health located in its new stateoftheart facility in Largo MD.
Performs routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the providers delegation agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing. In collaboration with a physician the APP will:
- Join a multifaceted team that covers new baby care in a growing OB program.
- Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be trained to cover all aspects of the nursery team.
- Performs routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the providers delegation agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing. Under the direction of a physician the APP will:
- Complete neonatal admissions and rounding.
- Provide diagnostic therapeutic and preventive health care services to new baby patients including comprehensive newborn well baby exams.
- Obtain medical histories when appropriate examines patients rounds daily orders and interprets tests makes initial diagnoses and orders treatments.
- Communicate effectively with attending physicians other medical teams team members and patients families.
- Administer therapeutic procedures such as circumcisions.
- Educate counsel and address patients parents on pertinent issues
- Perform circumcisions.
- Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty.
- Completes required CMEs and maintains licensures appropriately.
- Performs according to Maryland Board of Physician or Board of Nursing standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.
- Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care as part of our High Reliability Organization.
- Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelines
- Maintains a procedure complication rate less than the national average.
- Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional department and organizational core values.
- Maintain daily coverage on a rotating weekday and weekend schedule.
Qualifications :
- PAs: Bachelors degree graduation from an ARCPA accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants are required. Candidates must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
- NPs: Bachelors degree RN experience and completion of Acute Nurse Practitioner degree. Candidates must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- One year of pediatric experience is preferred.
- Credentialing must be obtained from UM Capital Region Healths Medical Staff Office and maintenance of BLS /ACLS certification is required.
- Salary is commensurate with clinical experience.
