We are seeking a hard-working and reliable construction worker to join our team. You will participate in a variety of construction projects and follow construction plans and instructions from the site supervisor. Although experience isn't essential, you will have to be physically fit and a fast learner.
To be successful in this position, you will work well as part of a team, enjoy working outdoors, and be able to perform strenuous physical tasks.
Responsibilities
Preparing construction sites, materials, and tools.
Loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
Removing debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.
Assembling and breaking down barricades, temporary structures, and scaffolding.
Assisting contractors, e.g. electricians and painters, as required.
Assisting with transport and operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
Regulating traffic and erecting traffic signs.
Following all health and safety regulations.
Digging holes, tunnels, and shafts.
Mixing, pouring, and levelling concrete.
Site Preparation and Cleanup:
Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, removing obstacles, and ensuring the area is safe for construction activities.
Set up and take down temporary structures such as scaffolding, safety barriers, and temporary fencing.
Clean and organize the job site to ensure efficiency and reduce hazards.
Carrying and Moving Materials:
Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from the construction site.
Help unload, stack, and store materials such as concrete, bricks, timber, and steel at the appropriate locations.
Ensure the proper handling and distribution of materials as required by the construction supervisor.
Assisting Skilled Workers:
Work alongside skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons, providing assistance as needed.
Hold tools, materials, or equipment for skilled workers during specific tasks.
Operate basic tools like drills, saws, hammers, and other hand tools under supervision.
Basic Construction Tasks:
Assist with laying foundations, pouring concrete, mixing materials (such as mortar or plaster), and other fundamental construction activities.
Help in building and assembling structures such as walls, floors, and roofs, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
Perform basic carpentry work, including installing framing, doors, windows, and other structural elements.
No formal qualification is required, although a high school diploma may be preferred.
Similar work experience may be beneficial.
Licensure to work with hazardous materials may be required.
Willingness to undertake training if necessary.
Be mild-tempered and a team player.
Be healthy, strong, and fit.
Basic knowledge of construction processes and safety protocols.
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
Familiarity with reading blueprints or construction drawings (helpful but not mandatory).
Basic understanding of construction materials and their usage.
Physical stamina and strength to perform labor-intensive tasks.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, ensuring tasks are performed accurately and up to quality standards.
Good teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other construction workers and professionals.
