Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Broadcast Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Broadcast Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our broadcasting equipment and systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assisting in the production of high-quality broadcast content.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain broadcasting equipment including cameras, video switchers, audio consoles, lighting systems, and other related equipment
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime
Perform regular maintenance and repairs on broadcasting equipment to ensure optimal performance
Set up and operate broadcast control room during live broadcasts, including managing audio and video signals
Collaborate with producers and directors to bring their creative vision to life through technical execution
Assist in the planning and execution of live broadcasts and recorded programs
Monitor and adjust audio and video quality to maintain a high standard of broadcast quality
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe and efficient operations
Operation of Broadcast Equipment:

Operate and maintain equipment used for broadcasting radio, television, or online media.
Set up, test, and adjust audio and video equipment to ensure optimal transmission quality.
Monitor broadcasts to ensure clear signal quality and promptly address any technical issues.
Equipment Setup and Maintenance:

Install, assemble, and configure technical equipment, including cameras, microphones, soundboards, and transmitters.
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of broadcast systems to prevent equipment failures.
Calibrate and test broadcast equipment to ensure compliance with technical standards and regulations.
Signal Transmission and Monitoring:

Monitor and control the strength, clarity, and reliability of outgoing signals.
Ensure proper encoding and decoding of audio and video signals for live or pre-recorded broadcasts.
Diagnose and resolve transmission issues, including interference or signal loss, during live broadcasts.
Support for Live and Recorded Productions:

Assist with the technical aspects of live broadcasts, including event coverage, interviews, and news reports.
Operate audio and video mixing consoles, switchers, and other production equipment during live and recorded events.
Coordinate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of technical elements during broadcasts.

Desired candidate profile

Associate degree or equivalent in Broadcasting, Electronics, or a related field
Proven experience as a Broadcast Technician or similar role
Proficient in operating and troubleshooting broadcasting equipment, such as cameras, switchers, and audio consoles
Strong technical skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues
Knowledge of broadcast signal flow and audio/video signal types
Familiarity with broadcast automation systems and software
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced broadcasting environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members
Proficiency in using audio and video editing software, mixing consoles, and signal processors.
Knowledge of signal transmission protocols, encoding/decoding, and digital compression techniques.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address technical issues promptly.
Familiarity with networking and IT systems related to broadcasting and streaming.
Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, manuals, and diagrams.
