The Leased Housing Department (LHD) is seeking a Principal Administrative Associate to support the Inspections Unit. The Unit is responsible for inspecting all subsidized units on the Section 8 program to ensure they are maintained in accordance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE).
The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Housing Manager and will have some latitude for independent initiative and decision making. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage the departments scheduling of inspections
Respond inquiries and correspondence inquiries from property owners voucher holders and other third parties
Generate reports related to scheduling and progress
Review and evaluate Certification of Completed Repairs and other inspectionrelated documents
Associate inspectionrelated documents to the Section 8 case using NYCHAs computer system
Reinstate and/or suspend Section 8 subsidy based on the cases inspection status
Calculate Section 8 subsidy payment adjustments for HQS reinstatements ensuring payment is processed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
Conduct outreach to inform tenants and landlords of Section 8 inspection status
Initiate and process termination action for inspections in accordance with procedures
Process payroll timekeeping and HRrelated activities
Perform other tasks as needed to support and improve the overall operations of the inspection department.
Note: Due to the existence of a civil service list candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Principal Administrative Associate to be considered.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in 1 above; or
3. A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in 1 above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. However all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in 1 above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in 1 above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 years.
