Job Description

Business Title: Management & Professional Development Training Administrator

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) the largest public housing authority in North America was created in 1935 to provide decent affordable housing for low and moderateincome New Yorkers. NYCHA is home to 1 in 17 New Yorkers providing affordable housing to 528105 authorized residents through public housing and Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) programs as well as Section 8 housing. More than 11000 employees operate NYCHAs properties and central office functions.

NYCHAs Learning and Development (L&D) Department provides service coordination and delivery of training and professional development for NYCHA employees to do their jobs safely and effectively. Through operation of citywide training facilities and a robust library of online learning materials NYCHA L&D offers both technical training in building systems management and leadership development courses that are custom designed based on NYCHA standard operating procedures. L&Ds mission is to prepare NYCHA employees for the roles theyre in and the roles they aspire to attain while managing the wealth of knowledge that employees amass throughout their careers.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Professional Development and Technology Training the Management and Professional Development (MPD) Training Administrator will oversee the daytoday operations of the MPD unit and the various supervisory and leadership development training courses administered while providing training leadership and leadership support for all NYCHA employees who work in a supervisory/managerial role. The MPD unit is currently in a renaissance period of growth and renewal after a decline in leadership development coursedelivery. NYCHA L&D seeks an experienced administrator with an entrepreneurial style to reimagine and implement a new era of supervisory and professional development training for NYCHA leaders at all levels.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1.Supervise coordinate and direct the activities of the Management & Professional Development unit (MPD).
2.Monitor performance goals key indicators project plans and budgets.
3.Manage the scheduling of all supervisory and leadership development training programs.
4.Coordinate and conduct needs analysis to ascertain training needs and employee skills gaps.
5.Liaise with operational leaders throughout NYCHA on curricula development of leadership and coaching courses
6.Hire coach and evaluate MPD staff including permanent and contract workers.
7.Assist with development of and routine updating of training content.
8.Facilitate training as necessary or serve in the absence of the Deputy Director when needed.
9.Serve as lead or key stakeholder in relevant working groups and in special projects as necessary.
10.Perform other related duties as required.

NOTE: IF THIS APPOINTMENT IS MADE ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS PURSUANT TO 65 OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE LAW NO TENURE OR PERMANENCE ACCRUES TO AN INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION BY VIRTUE OF SUCH APPOINTMENT.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree issued upon completion of a course of study registered by the University of the State of New York and seven (7) years experience in an executive or administrative capacity in a large community agency having or supervising at least 25 professional employees; or
2. A masters degree or 30 graduate credits in group work community organization recreation physical education and six (6) years experience of the type described in (1) above; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
