Job Description

The Chief Diversity and EEO Officer will report directly to the Corporation Counsel. The hired attorney will be responsible for leading the NYC Law Departments commitment to be a diverse equitable and inclusive agency by developing related policies and programs in conjunction with Human Resources to attract retain and foster a diverse and inclusive workforce. The EEO Officer will address all EEO related claims and issues and lead efforts related to design implement and monitor all inclusion and diversity initiatives at NYC Law Department. They will oversee the EEO team and the teams work.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Set and execute diversity inclusion and equity goals in accordance with citywide mandates.
Prepare Diversity & Inclusion Quarterly Reports memos and monthly reports.
Conduct oversee monitor and/or participate in EEO related trainings performed by staff.
Perform internal and external EEO investigations and inquiries as needed.
Conduct external EEO investigations when there are conflicts at other City agencies.
Oversee all EEO related databases to ensure all information is uptodate and accurate.
Work closely with EEO staff to create maintain and distribute Language Access Domestic Violence Sexual Harassment Disability Accessibility and Wellness resources.
Oversee Law Department committees.
Oversee all correspondence related to EEO trainings and notifications.
Oversee all EEO audits and Local Law compliance.
Work with EEO staff to create archive and organize EEO files.
Oversee the updating of Citywide Equal Employment Database System (CEEDS) entries.
Supervise the EEO staff College Aides and/or Interns.


Qualifications :

Candidates must be law school graduates who are admitted and good standing with the NYS Bar with at least 10 years legal experience. Candidates also must possess:
A commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion;
Strong analytical and creative problemsolving skills;
Strong verbal and written communications skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information and communicate with all levels of management;
Ability to interact discretely and effectively with employees exercising keen use of discretion and confidentiality in all EEO matters;
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects appropriately prioritize workload plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals and work independently in daytoday functional needs;
Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and factbased analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions;
Ability to effectively articulate the case for diversity and create commitment to change efforts.
