The nurse practitioner (NP) having a specialtybased focus functions in an expanded nursing role demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill to formulate clinical decisions. The NP practices according to the philosophy and standards of UHN and the Division of Nephrology and integrates knowledge and skill from nursing and medicine in order to assess evaluate diagnose and treat individuals who have renal failure requiring incenter hemodialysis. The role is a balance of independent practice and collaboration with the nephrology interdisciplinary health care teams and work in a team of nephrology NPs. We welcome NPs newly graduated or one semester ready from completion with a supportive community of practice to help develop the NP in the acquisition of specialized nephrology skills knowledge and experience during the immediate onboarding and beyond.
