Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Review claims and appeals lodged by staff members including requests before the OECD Administrative Tribunal and contribute to the drafting of the Organisations responses and pleadings in prelitigation and litigation phases.
  • Provide legal advice on the implementation or interpretation of OECD internal rules in particular with respect to the Staff Regulations Rules and Instructions and other norms relating to the staff management.
  • Ensure firsthand and efficient liaison with the OECD Human Resource Management Service including in connection with the implementation of the Organisations corporate reforms in staffrelated matters (employment framework pension scheme etc.).
  • Provide legal advice on the interpretation or implementation of privileges and immunities agreements and other questions of public international law related to the institutional framework of the Organisation.
  • Carry out research and analysis relating to a variety of legal topics; prepare drafts of legal opinions correspondence notes or other documents.
  • Carry out any other legal work that may be required from the Directorate.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • Postgraduate University degree in law (e.g. Masters equivalent or Juris Doctor). 
  • Knowledge of the two main legal systems of relevance to the Organisation (civil and common law) would be an advantage.

Professional Background

  • A minimum of five years professional experience in the legal department of an international organisation or in a law firm in positions focusing on litigation or one or more of the following legal areas: international civil service law international organisations law or labour law.

Core Competencies

Contract Duration

  • 24month fixedterm appointment with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability.
  • Several positions are available.
