Job Description

This is an exciting time to join United Living on our Apprenticeship Programme as the business continues to grow and we have a significant order book of secured future projects.

We are looking for an Apprentice Data Engineer to join our Connected business who connect people through fixedline and mobile telecoms infrastructure ensuring seamless communication and access to information.

This role sits within our systems development team working alongside Project Finance PMO and other departments. This apprenticeship is perfect for someone looking for their first step in System Development. You will have the support of the Development team as well as experienced Telecoms and IT professionals to enable you to develop and adapt knowledge.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Learn to develop your skills in gathering analysing and interpreting complex data from multiple sources including Salesforce (Sitetracker) PowerBI and SQL.
  • Software Implementation: Assist the ULC Developer in implementing new software systems upgrades and APIs within timescales and SLAs.
  • Reporting: Develop reports on data efficiencies helping to drive informed decisionmaking.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy completeness and compliance with ULC and GDPR data management standards at times working closely with the project teams to minimise dates in the past and discrepancies in data.
  • Visualisation and Insights: Use data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI Sitetracker and Presentations) to present findings in a clear impactful way for Development team
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop skills in order to eventually recommend and implement improvements to current data processes tools and reporting methods to enhance efficiency and data quality

What to expect from your Apprenticeship programme
As an Apprentice with Connected youll be given a real job from day one where you will gain handson industry experience and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Youll be inspired and stretched professionally but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living and the construction industry.

To help you settle into your role well provide you with a buddy from our apprentice population. They will have some great advice as they were in exactly the same situation as you not so long ago and youll also receive a dedicated mentor who will help guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme to help you achieve professional success.

As part of your Apprenticeship you will be enrolled onto the Data Engineer Level 5 qualification with one of our training partners. You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as virtual workshops learning materials and onetoone support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.


Qualifications :

In order to be successful in this role we would like you to have:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade 94/A*C including English and Maths.
  • A minimum level 3 qualification with technical content such as Computer Science Maths or Physics
  • Some experience with data or programming languages (desirable)
  • Available to start in February 2025
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • The motivation and dedication to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme.
