The Cook prepares food in accordance with applicable federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures and as directed by the Director of Dietary Services and/or Clinical Nutritionist to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.
Responsibilities
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to each patient.
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms reports etc. and submit to the Director of Dietary Services.
- Coordinate dietary services with other departments as necessary.
- Work with the facilitys clinical nutritionist and dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
- Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist in establishing a food service production line etc. to assure that meals are prepared on time.
- Process diet changes and new diets as received from the Nursing Department.
- Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary.
- Attend and participate in workshops seminars inservices etc. as directed.
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is being served.
- Prepare and serve patients nutritional snacks.
- Assure that appropriate cutlery and equipment are provided with each meal and/or snack.
- Assist the Director of Dietary Services in reviewing treatment plans to assure that a patients dietary needs are being met.
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to patients who refuse foods served.
- Perform other duties as needed
This is a fulltime position that will work TuesdaySaturday from 11 am to 7:30 pm.

Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1year experience as a cook or similar role is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of sobriety is required
- Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of healthcare facility cook.
- Knowledge of culinary skills and have the ability to cook well for a difficult population.
