Job Description
Position Summary:
As a Linux Systems Engineer youll play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting our Linuxbased systems. Your strong Linux skills experience as a Linux system administrator and troubleshooting capabilities will be vital in addressing operational issues and solving problems as they arise. This role requires a handson approach focusing on operations and firefighting problems to ensure system stability and reliability. Scripting skills and experience in automating recurring operations are highly desirable. Your work will involve not only managing and maintaining systems but also contributing to process improvements and automation to enhance operational efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Address and resolve operational issues with Linux systems
- Perform complex systems design development and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end
- Oversee complex infrastructure including installing configuring testing and maintaining operating systems application software and system management tools
- Develop solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems
- Automate recurring operational tasks and processes
- Prepare and maintain documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
- Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology
- May coach and provide guidance to lessexperienced professionals
Required Skills:
- 5 years of related systems administration experience
- Strong Linux system administration experience
- Troubleshooting skills for operational issues
- Scripting experience (Bash Python etc.)
- Automation experience
Preferred Experience:
- HPE HighPerformance Computing (HPC)
- Ansible
- Operational support experience
- Virtualization technologies (VMware virtual networking)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux YUM Satellite Capsule technologies
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Panasas storage platform
- GitLab
Required Clearance:
- Active DoD TS/SCI
