We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager to join our global tax team.
Working closely with the Senior Tax Manager APAC and the Senior Tax Manager Europe you will be responsible for the management of direct tax compliance obligations (in partnership with our global compliance provider) tax reporting tax audit & risk management strategic planning and project work for all Smiths companies in the APAC region. Over time the role will provide the opportunity to expand into wider areas of tax including technology policy and geographical scope.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that our tax obligations are met accurately and efficiently and in supporting the business to manage complex tax risks as we evolve across the APAC region.
It is also important to note youll be joining a team of experts keen to support you in a role that will offer great variety and exposure to all functions across the Group. Plus you will have access to a wide variety of support within a receptive highly visible open and closeknit team.
The role will be based in Pune working alongside Divisional Finance teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
INDIA:
- Coordinate tax filings process for all Indian ITR and TP filings Indian entities and nonresident entities and review tax returns and TP returns prepared by Big4s before filing.
- Liaise with consultants to support Finance with queries on tax filings review notices/letters from tax authorities and prepare responses and maintain status of each year tax filing and payment for all Indian entities and nonresident entities.
- Prepare and file WHT and TCS returns.
- Support Finance with calculation of quarterly advance tax payments for all companies in India.
- Support Finance with direct taxes matters in the Statutory audit process.
APAC & GROUP:
- Implementation and local monitoring of tax policy best practice and minimum operating standards to ensure compliance with corporate tax policy.
- Identification and management of tax risk and those specifically arising from tax audits. The implementation of procedures to manage and reduce this risk as part of the Tax Functions overall risk framework.
- Management of the annual tax filing and compliance process for all APAC companies alongside the outsourced tax compliance function to ensure accurate and timely filed tax returns.
- Support Finance with the Groups half yearly and annual tax accounting processes particularly with current and deferred tax calculations.
- Liaise with local controllers and HMRC (the UKs tax authorities) and manage the process to obtain relevant required documentation e.g. Certificates of residence on an accurate and timely basis.
- Assisting finance teams with production of supporting documentation for intercompany charges and other transfer pricing matters.
- Coordinate Country by Country Reporting notifications and reports to be filed for APAC companies.
- Provision of daytoday tax support working where necessary with tax advisors to Smiths companies in APAC
- Support local financial controllers in new business initiatives supply chain and contracting models and on wider tax related projects including changing regulation planning opportunities and M&A.
- Work effectively with the Corporate Tax and Transfer Pricing teams currently based in the UK US and Germany.
- Keep up to date with developments in tax laws within the region and communicate relevant actions to Finance and Group Tax.
Qualifications :
Education requirements
- Accounting or related degree
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with proven experience in an accounting firm or large multinational group
Experience required
- Looking for 4 to 7 years of professional experience post qualification.
- Working knowledge of handling corporate taxes in India
- Experience with APAC tax regulations is a strong plus
- Experience in tax accounting/reporting (practical knowledge and experience of International Accounting Standards in particular IAS12)
- Experience in dealing with assessments from tax offices
- Understanding of indirect tax laws
