Job Description
Job Summary
The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations within the medical facility ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with regulatory standards. This leadership role involves collaborating with department heads to implement clinical policies and protocols managing medical staff performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills a commitment to quality patient care and the ability to navigate complex healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all clinical operations and medical services ensuring adherence to high standards of patient care.
Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement clinical policies protocols and procedures that enhance patient safety and care quality.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of medical staff providing guidance and support for professional development.
Manage recruitment retention and training of highcaliber medical professionals.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in patient care through effective mentorship and support.
Liaise with hospital management to align clinical operations with business objectives ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Develop strategic initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality and operational efficiency.
Ensure adherence to ethical legal and professional standards in all medical practices.
Monitor compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices updating policies as necessary.
Establish protocols for handling medical emergencies and ensure staff are welltrained for such situations.
Lead the hospitals response to public health emergencies and epidemics.
Foster relationships with external medical institutions and participate in relevant boards and committees.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MBBS) required.
- Postgraduate specialization in a relevant field (e.g. Internal Medicine Surgery) preferred.
- Valid medical license to practice in Nigeria; Fellowship or Board certification in a relevant specialty is an advantage.
Experience:
Required Skills:
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
Indepth knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
Ability to make critical decisions and solve complex problems efficiently.
