Liaise with teachers to plan library lessons, and ensure collections and library displays align with curriculum themes
Review resources to ensure content is age and culturally appropriate, as per school and Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) guidelines
Administer the loan and return of books and resources in line with school policy
Create, update and manage information resources
Classify and catalogue new library resources online, using Oliver software
Shelve books using the Dewey system to ensure collections are well-organised
Hold information literacy sessions with students
Library Management and Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
Organize and manage library resources, including books, digital media, journals, and reference materials, ensuring they are easily accessible to students and staff.
Maintain the library catalog, ensuring that all items are correctly classified, organized, and in good condition.
Develop and implement library policies and procedures, including lending systems, cataloging, and maintaining proper record-keeping.
Ensure the library is welcoming, accessible, and conducive to study, reading, and learning.
Ensure a safe and secure environment for all users of the library, monitoring usage and maintaining order within the library.
Resource Management
Manage library collections, ensuring that resources are up-to-date, diverse, and reflect the needs and interests of students and staff.
Regularly assess the library’s resources to ensure they meet curriculum requirements and address the academic needs of students.
Curate and recommend new acquisitions for the library collection, working within the budget allocated for library resources.
Ensure that resources are properly cataloged and that items are stored appropriately to maintain their longevity and condition.
Manage subscriptions to academic journals, e-books, databases, and other digital resources.
Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Sciences, English, Arabic or related field
Library experience preferred
Knowledge of online cataloguing systems e.g. Oliver
Commitment to student well-being and learning

Cultural awareness and sensitivity
Ability to speak Arabic would be an advantage
Strong knowledge of library management software and systems (e.g., cataloging systems, library databases).
Proficiency with digital resources, e-books, online databases, and educational technologies.
Ability to work with a diverse range of students, staff, and other stakeholders.
Strong research skills and the ability to assist others in navigating and utilizing information resources effectively.
Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
Knowledge of current trends in library science, digital media, and information technology.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and assist students and staff.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
A friendly and approachable manner, with a passion for helping others.
Ability to present information clearly and effectively in both group and one-on-one settings.
Full-time
