Job Description


Bay Area Hospital 127 bed Level III Trauma is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to support Surgical Services and collaborate with physicians in delivering exceptional patient care. As the largest hospital on the Southern Coast of Oregon with a catchment area of over 320000 consider joining us in our commitment to serving our amazing community!

Job Description:

  • 2 years of Orthopedics PA work experience is required (not including training)
  • Shift choices: Four 10hour shifts or five 8hour shifts
  • May be assigned to Ortho General Surgery Urology or ENT
  • Provides needed procedures including assisting in surgery
  • Performs procedures diagnostic procedures and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice
  • Assists in room setup and turnover
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Assists operative team as directed by OR manager and charge nurses
  • Customerservice oriented
  • Assures proper sterile techniques at all times in surgery
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintains confidentiality thinks and acts independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintains regular consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patients families other healthcare staff and other departments
  • Takes personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth and collaborates with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality
  • Basic computer skills. May require periodic use of a personal computer.
  • Meets criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges
  • Able to stand walk bend reach and stretch frequently and for prolonged periods
  • Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity including color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills adequate eyehand coordination and the ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating transferring in and out of bed chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to the threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs the ability to communicate effectively through reading writing and speaking in person or on the telephone
  • This is a permanent fulltime position that requires residency within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Base salary BR000 (This represents the rate for an individual with significant experience in this job in a fulltime 40 hour per week position).

  • Board Certified PA REQUIRED
  • OR license (or willing to obtain) REQUIRED
  • 2 years of work experience as PA in Orthopedics (note in Experience field) REQUIRED
  • Does the provider have ties to Oregon i.e. family in the area or has lived in OR at some point (note in Additional Submission Details) REQUIRED
