Job Summary
We are seeking a detailoriented and skilled GIS Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and will be responsible for supporting various projects through data collection analysis and visualization. This role requires proficiency in GIS software scripting and database management to effectively contribute to our mapping and spatial analysis initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain GIS databases ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Perform data collection and analysis using various GIS tools and techniques.
- Draft maps and visual representations of spatial data for reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather requirements and provide technical support.
- Utilize SQL for querying relational databases to extract relevant data.
- Implement scripting solutions to automate repetitive tasks within GIS applications.
- Integrate APIs to enhance GIS functionality and access external datasets.
- Assist in CADrelated tasks as needed ensuring compatibility with GIS outputs.
- Conduct quality control checks on datasets to ensure compliance with project standards.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS QGIS) is essential.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and experience with SQL.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Python JavaScript) for automation tasks.
- Experience in data modeling and manipulation within GIS environments.
- Knowledge of CAD software is a plus but not required.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
