Job Description

Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Davie FL

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller will also play a key role in supervising and mentoring accounting staff fostering a collaborative and highperformance work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Controller to manage the daily working capital management of the business and subsidiaries including the cash disbursement cash application and Treasury activities.
  • Assist with coordinating the monthend and yearend closing processes ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations and analysis of various general ledger accounts.
  • Implement and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors providing necessary documentation and support during audits.
  • Address audit findings and collaborate on the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns ensuring compliance with local state and federal tax regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of financial strategies to drive business growth.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the professional development and growth of team members through training and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in accounting/finance required
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Strong technical analytical communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel
  • Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (Vista preferred)
