For an innovative and rapidly growing client we are looking for a Senior Underwriter Marine & Energy (m/f/d) to start immediately or by agreement. Our client operates in the reinsurance sector focusing on building longterm partnerships and is part of one of the largest insurance groups in Germany.
The position reports directly to the Global Head of Marine & Energy. As part of the team you will be responsible for growing a profitable and diversified portfolio overseeing all underwritingrelated functions linked to managing a global book of new and renewal Marine & Energy reinsurance business across two reinsurance entities. Your primary responsibilities will include underwriting Marine & Energy treaty business in line with the established underwriting and pricing guidelines. You will also assist in optimizing the current portfolio and allocated capacity while positioning the company as an increasingly significant player in the Marine & Energy reinsurance market. In collaboration with the Global Head of Marine & Energy and the relevant P&C Regional Managers you will help shape the overall market and client strategy within the Underwriting Plan process. Additionally you will be accountable for the implementation of the Underwriting Plan including the CPT (Consolidated Planning Tool) process.
You will take all necessary actions to ensure the profitability of the Marine & Energy portfolio and be actively involved in visiting markets and clients to build and maintain relationships with both new and existing clients and brokers. Representing the company at industry events such as conferences will also be part of your duties.
You will work closely with Pricing Actuaries and Regional Managers to ensure the effective and efficient management of the portfolio. You will also oversee the highquality administration of the portfolio alongside Underwriting Assistants and will be responsible for reviewing and approving claims in coordination with the Claims Department following the established Claims Guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in a relevant field or an equivalent professional qualification in insurance (such as ACII or other local equivalents). You should have at least 10 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting or a related industry role. A forwardthinking enthusiastic attitude focused on continuous improvement is essential. The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is crucial as well as being an excellent team player with strong communication skills.
Strong negotiation and communication skills are necessary for working with both internal and external stakeholders. The role also requires a technical analytical and resultsoriented mindset. Proficiency in MS Office particularly Excel is expected. Fluency in English is a must and additional language skills would be a distinct advantage.
