Job Description

The Opportunity

 

The School Psychology Program Manager will manage develop observe and consult with school psychologists.  They will provide consultation manage assessment assignments and compliance at designated schools and support with the SSPTs at designated schools.  The School Psychology Program Manager will participate in staff development program development and innovation of special methods and approaches in the school psychology field. They will collaborate with school administrators and general staff to effectively employ the special education and traumainformed schools programs and provide compliance expertise at assigned sites. The School Psychology Program Manager will report to the Managing Director of Student Services.

 

Leadership Advocacy Expertise

  • Acts as school psychology and mental health  expert and face of the Student Services team providing consultation and guidance with regards to special education services assessment and IEP implementation as well as best practices in behavioral intervention and prevention 
  • Stays uptodate with district state federal laws and policies as they relate to special education behavior discipline and school psychology
  • Makes evidencebased and culturally responsive recommendations for the inclusion of behavioral interventions and tiered supports  within schools
  • Develops and delivers high quality trainings and presentations both in person and virtually to various audiences including school leaders school counselors interns teachers families and more
  • Collaborates across KIPP SoCal departments to meet goals and deliverables (e.g. Special Education Academics Data etc.)

Management Training & Evaluation

  • Acts as Hiring Manager for School Psychologists and interns/practicum students updating job descriptions (when needed) designing interviews and tasks etc
  • Directly manages School Psychology team which includes providing weekly or biweekly consultation
  • Design relevant trainings and team meetings for School Psychologists School Psychology interns/practicum students other KIPP SoCal team members
  • Evaluate the performance of all School psychologists through observation feedback and coaching
  • Evaluate the performance of School Psychologist  interns and practicum students 
  • Supervise the implementation of tiered supports and  psychological assessments 
  • May be asked to complete psychoeducational assessments or functional behavior assessments when needed
  • Leads and participates Peer Review meetings with school psychologists
  • Assigns and monitors caseload of School Psychologists
  • Maintains and reviews documentation
  • Collaboratively sets performance goals metrics and deliverables to drive the KIPP SoCal mission and Student Services vision

Special Education & SSPTs

  • Maintain knowledge of current Special Education regulations and best practicesReview and ensure IEP timeline compliance
  • Review and ensure IEP timeline compliance
  • Serve as member of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team and attend meetings as needed
  • Support with reviewing and leading Peer Review process
  • Provide consultation and support for highprofile IEPs
  • Provides consultation with the writing of Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Assist IEP team in making recommendations based on all relevant data
  • Recommend and teach techniques for supporting students social and emotional & behavioral needs
  • Supports team in providing consultation and recommendations for schools SSPT process
  • Supports schools with understanding and implementing MTSS

School Psychology Interns & Practicum Students

  • Oversees the KIPP SoCal School Psychology Internship program including but not limited to:
  • Maintaining relationships with established School Psychology programs (e.g. SDSU LMU National University etc.)
  • Fills out relevant paperwork for requesting interns (e.g. updating agency profile signing agreements)
  • Scheduling interviews with candidates
  • Providing opportunities for School Psychologists to receive training from universities and team leaders in Field Instruction and development of interns/practicum students
  • Troubleshoots challenges with interns including communicating with field liaisons developing performance improvement plans or advocating for an intern to be reassigned.

Mental Health

  • Like all KIPP SoCal staff the School Psychology Program Manager is a mandated reporter
  • Experience working with DCFS and ACCESS (mental health emergencies)
  • Conducts suicide risk assessments and appropriate interventions as necessary
  • Be NCI trained and cofacilitate trainings for team member certification (verbal & physical intervention training)

Collaboration & Stakeholder Relationships

  • Works collaboratively with the School Leader and admin team at designated sites including attending SpEd / Leadership team meetings communicating concerns and accomplishments of School Psychologists provide consultation.
  • Works closely with the Special Education team at designated sites.
  • A member of the Student Services Leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively with all Student Services and School Based teams.
  • Provides support with case management services in the form of referrals to outside agencies and management of communitybased mental health partnerships within the school.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters of School Psychology degree or related field required
  • PPSC (Pupil Personnel Services Credential) in School Psychology required
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience of school counselors school social workers or other schoolbased mental health professionals
  • Minimum 5 years postMasters degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Benefits and Compensation

  • KIPP SoCal Public Schools offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $79200 to $118800 per year. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $99000 depending on qualifications internal equity and the budget allocated for this role.
