Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload and conduct IEP meetings to ensure the appropriate development and implementation of individualized education plans
- Utilize the general or adapted curriculum to plan and deliver instruction to students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities within a selfcontained special education classroom setting
- Establish clear objectives for all academic and prosocial skills lessons and design instruction using evidenced based practices to support students in the acquisition of these skills
- Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law regional policy and administrative regulation
- Provide care and/or instruction in selfhelp skills such as toileting dressing feeding positioning etc. as needed
- Manage attendance and grade reporting for all assigned students
- Communicate effectively and regularly with students and parents about student progress
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by school leadership staff the EC Facilitator and DIrector or Student Support Services

- Possess a deep commitment to both racial equity and improving the lives of kids from lowincome communities; experience working within predominantly black brown and/or lowincome communities
- Active North Carolina General Curriculum and Adapted Curriculum EC Certification or ability to seek reciprocity
- A bachelors degree in a relevant content area
- Passed or will pass the Praxis exams by July 2023
- Pass criminal background check
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
- Zest grit professionalism and a sense of humor
Preferred Qualifications
The following are not required but are advantageous for candidates:
- At least 2 full years of experience as a special education teacher and case manager within an elementary school setting
- Experience in teaching in a high performing charter school and/or schools with a high population of students with free and reduced lunch
- Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students
