Pre-K Paraprofessional

Position Overview:

The PreK Paraprofessional at KIPP Kansas City plays a vital role in supporting the development and learning of young children in the classroom. This position is designed to assist the PreK teacher in providing a nurturing and engaging environment where children can explore learn and grow. The PreK Paraprofessional will work closely with students to promote their social emotional and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities: 

Instructional Support:

• Assist the PreK teacher in planning and implementing ageappropriate lessons and activities.
• Provide oneonone and small group support to students during instructional time reinforcing learning concepts and skills.
• Help create a stimulating and organized classroom environment that fosters exploration and curiosity.

Behavioral Support:

• Support students in developing social skills and managing their emotions through positive reinforcement and guidance.
• Assist in implementing classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
• Collaborate with the PreK teacher to address individual student needs and support their behavioral and emotional growth.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Communicate effectively with the PreK teacher regarding student progress challenges and successes.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support student learning and development.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (required).
• Associates degree or completion of 48 college credit hours (preferred).
• Experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting (preferred).

• The candidate is expected to attend conferences meetings and training sessions both virtually and in person within the Region.

Work Environment

• Reports to work MondayFriday and some weekends. 
• A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

Travel Requirements:

• Ability to travel to work location. 

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is based on years of experience educational background and level of expertise.
