You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the stringent quality standards required in the automotive industry. This includes working closely with suppliers to enhance their processes and performance conducting quality audits and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as APQP PPAP and IATF 16949.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Development and Management:
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality cost and delivery performance.
Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Develop and implement supplier quality improvement plans.
2. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP):
Lead APQP activities for new product launches and changes.
Ensure that suppliers adhere to APQP requirements and timelines.
Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues.
3. Production Part Approval Process (PPAP):
Review and approve PPAP submissions from suppliers.
Ensure all PPAP documentation is complete and accurate.
Work with suppliers to resolve any issues identified during the PPAP process.
4. Capacity Studies and Analysis:
Conduct capacity studies to ensure suppliers can meet production requirements.
Analyze supplier production processes to identify potential bottlenecks or constraints.
Work with suppliers to develop and implement capacity improvement plans.
5. Quality Audits and Compliance:
Conduct regular quality audits of supplier facilities.
Ensure suppliers comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain audit schedules and reports.
6. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis:
Lead problemsolving activities for supplierrelated quality issues.
Utilize tools such as 8D 5Why and Fishbone analysis to identify root causes.
Ensure timely resolution of quality issues and implementation of corrective actions.
8. Technical Support and Guidance:
Provide technical support to suppliers to reduce defect rates and improve quality.
Serve as a liaison between company management and suppliers to address quality issues.
Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality including defect rates and areas for improvement.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality Management or a related field.
6 to10 years automotive experience and 1 to 3 years in similar role as supplier quality engineer
Strong knowledge of APQP PPAP IATF 16949 and other automotive quality standards.
Experience conducting capacity studies and supplier audits.
Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to lead root cause analysis activities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel frequently within the Middle East and Africa region.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in quality management (e.g. VDA OEMspecific certifications) is a plus.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 standards.
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g. MSA SPC FMEA).
