General Dynamics Mission SystemsCanada Advanced Vetronics Systems (AVS) division is hiring for a Hardware Engineering Developer P3. This multidisciplinary team develops electronics systems for armoured fighting vehicles. These systems include invehicle video management smart displays fire control ballistics computing and vehicle control.
As part of a project team you will be involved in all phases of new product developments including concept definition architecture component selection simulations design implementation validation bringup failure analysis and lifecycle management. Products typically include one or more processor or FPGA complex highbandwidth memory interfaces highspeed serial interfaces analog controls and video interfaces digital video interfaces and custom power supplies.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical developments for new products.
- Prototype and conduct performance analysis of electronic systems for new product development
- Support the design development and optimization of complex electronic circuits
- Derive hardware requirements from higherlevel system requirements.
- Develop and document test cases to establish design margins.
- Identify and resolve technical issues.
- Develop execute supervise and document engineering test procedures for DVT and qualification activities.
- Lead engineering investigations to identify root cause and corrective actions.
- Capture and maintain configuration control of project related developments.
- Support business development activities customer demonstrations field trials and system level testing. Some travel may be required.
- Mentor other team members.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree program in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience.
- Motivated selfstarter with excellent teamwork skills and experience working in a multidiscipline team.
- Effective at prioritizing and scheduling tasks to meet project goals.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- Proficient at interpreting and verifying requirements considering design margin and risks.
- Experience with supporting the design development and optimization of complex electronic circuits
- Circuit simulation experience using HyperLynx toolset and understanding of associated limitations.
- Experience working with computer systems from lowlevel hardware to OS applications.
- Good understanding of lowlevel software interfaces protocols and FPGAs.
- Proficient at using common lab equipment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and how they relate to designs. Knowledge of MILSTDs is an asset.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
