General Dynamics Mission SystemsCanada Advanced Vetronics Systems (AVS) division is hiring for a Hardware Developer with a focus on FPGA. This multidisciplinary team develops electronics systems for armoured vehicles these systems include invehicle video management smart displays fire control ballistics computing and vehicle control.
Within the AVS team you will be involved in all phases of new product development. Key responsibilities include:
- Engineer implement and optimize FPGAbased solutions using Vivado focusing on VHDL and HLS code development.
- Testing of FPGA solutions including functional testing performance testing and verification/validation activities.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate FPGA solutions into larger systems and participate in requirements analysis and system architecture design.
- Implement and optimize video interfaces protocols and processing (e.g. SDI Display Port Video scaling Video overlay) within FPGA solutions considering power efficiency resource utilization and timing constraints.
- Develop and maintain reusable IP cores and libraries to improve development efficiency.
- Resolve complex FPGArelated issues in lab and field environments.
- Stay current with emerging FPGA technologies and industry trends recommending innovations for future projects.
- Contribute to technical proposals cost estimates and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5 years of directly relevant professional experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Skills in task prioritization and scheduling to meet project objectives
- Strong communication abilities and technical documentation skills
- Must be a selfmotivated individual with a proven track record of initiative and proactive problemsolving.
- Demonstrated proficiency in FPGA or ASIC development
- Extensive knowledge of VHDL and HighLevel Synthesis (HLS)
- Advanced skills in simulation verification FPGA synthesis implementation and timing analysis
- Proven ability to resolve complex FPGA related issues
- Working knowledge of C/C and FPGA driver code
- Proficient understanding of version control systems
- Competence in interpreting datasheets and schematics
- Proficiency in utilizing common laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes and logic analyzers)
- Extensive experience with Xilinx Vivado design suite
- Indepth knowledge of video signal processing techniques is necessary.
- Familiarity with embedded systems design
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Python Tcl)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
