Job Description

Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Plan guide evaluate and revise a comprehensive socialemotional and behavior support program with interventions and supports aligned to district guidelines; work directly with scholars including conducting individual assessments and developing and implementing individual scholar goals and objectives; serve as a team member to support MTSS; build capacity in staff to meet building and systemwide socialemotional and behavior initiatives through professional learning for individuals departments and/or grade levels and collaborating with and supporting staff in meeting the socialemotional and behavior goals and objectives of scholars; support and promote School Improvement Plan (SIP) for SocialEmotional Learning (SEL) goals including implementation of steps and processes; implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed; make appropriate and equitable use of resources and technologies; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars working with them in the development of their scholar; design deliver and assess socialemotional and behavior curriculum according to district guidelines; participate in district building and department leadership activities; provide inperson synchronous and asynchronous learning when applicable; work collaboratively with others. Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of the district and building at the discretion of the supervisor.

Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIT)
 
Minimum qualifications include: 
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • MN teaching license in appropriate field OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
  • If not currently licensed must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*

Preferred qualifications include: 
  • Develop and implement strategies: Collaborate with teachers parents and the students educational team to create and implement strategies to help the student be successful in the school environment
  • Provide instruction: Provide individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically or behaviorally
  • Assist with deescalation: Help deescalate student behaviors and reintegrate students back into the classroom
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement deescalation techniques
  • Knowledge of and the ability to implement behavior management techniques 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Support schoolwide efforts: Support schoolwide efforts to develop and implement a social emotional curriculum
  • Engage parents: Engage parents in the student behavior intervention plan process and provide them with skills and techniques to support their child
  • Conduct conflict resolution: Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions
  • Comply with safety policies: Comply with all safety policies practices and procedures
  • Uses identified researchbased interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs 
  • Maintains and provides databased documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators staff students and families 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
