Roles and responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the Internal Audit Manager, the Internal Auditor shall be responsible to help provide an independent and objective assurance regarding the management of risks and controls thorough out the companies: Qafco, QMC & GFC producing Ammonia, Urea, Melamine and Urea Formaldehyde.
Key Accountabilities:
In accordance with the yearly audit plans approved by the Audit Committee, the role holder will be part of an audit team that shall be responsible for reviewing and assessing the processes, controls, procedures and practices in all the three companies related (but not limited) to the following:
- Assess Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (including Process Safety Management).
- Audit Plants’ Operation, Performance Monitoring and Reporting.
- Review Products Storage, Handling and Loading and Logistics.
- Review Predictive, Preventive and Planned Maintenance of Plant Equipment including Condition Monitoring,
- Assess Inventory Management of Catalysts, Chemicals, Lube Oils, Spare Parts, Store Standard Items and other consumables.
- Examine “Management of Change” guidelines
- Reviewing Plant Modifications and Major Construction Projects.
- Review Shutdown Planning.
The role holder shall plan and conduct the audits as part of a team. The audit work involves risk assessments, presentations, information gathering, meetings and discussions with the clients, data analysis, documenting the identified gaps and issues in the form of audit memos, and audit report writing.
The role holder may also be required to perform the following tasks:
- Assessment of control framework of QAFCO, QMC, GFC and utilisation of resources and reporting the findings to the senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Liaising with external auditors or other external agencies.
- Execution and reporting of adhoc investigations as required by senior management and the Audit Committee.
Desired candidate profile
A minimum of bachelor’s in engineering degree (Any discipline).
A minimum of 7 years’ experience within a large reputable company.
Competences in some of the following areas would be preferable:
- Knowledge of International Standards such as API, ASME etc for Plant Process, Machinery and Equipment
- Plants Performance Evaluation (Capacity, Production, Energy Efficiency, Equipment efficiency etc.).
- Loss Point Analysis (Energy, Raw materials, Production etc.).
- Optimization of Cost Control Measures in Production, Maintenance and Ancillary Units (including Turnarounds – Planned Shutdowns).
- Pre and Post Evaluation of realization of benefits from implemented projects.
- Technical evaluation in areas such as Inventories of Catalysts, Chemicals, Equipment, Spare Parts and Plant Insurance etc.
- Experience in Detailed Energy Audits and Benchmarking of Consumption of Raw Materials, Energy and other Resources.
- Cost optimization in the whole life cycle of asset management.
- Knowledge of ERP and computerized maintenance management systems and modern planning programs.
- Techno-commercial ability to understand the entire business from shareholders perspective.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills. Ability to write comprehensive technical reports in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong analytical skills and good judgment.
- Strong critical thinking with ability to define problems and propose solutions.
- Management skills with experience in resolving audit issues tactfully.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management and employees, strong communication skills
- Advance use of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
