Role description:
The Global Category Manager Steel structures is the leader of the procurement strategy and the recognized expert in procurement. He / she is leveraging BESIX assets to define a strategy in category sourcing that ensures competitiveness and profitability of the Group
Core Tasks
- Collaborate with Senior Global Category manager on steel structure packages
- Define procurement strategy for his / her respective category in collaboration with stakeholders (projects technical business) and associated vendor panel with a yearly spend of 50 to 80 million based on projects pipeline.
- Focus activities and his/her time on Steel structures for marine works buildings stadiums and complex structures.
- Provide technical and commercial expertise to tendering teams
- Take ownership of steel packages based complexity and budget value for the projects
- Responsible for Synergies and cost reduction identification and application within BESIX Group and the procurement community
- Support innovation capture with vendors and promote inside relevant businesses
- Strong focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Mission and responsibilities
- Define procurement strategy for his / her respective category in collaboration with stakeholders and promote within businesses
- Define strategic partners and manage vendor relationship
- Initiate negotiate and promote vendors framework agreements at BESIX Group level
- Coordinate/animate project buyers network inside BESIX group for his / her category
- Support Tendering teams by providing vendors and market prices visibility
- Support project execution for BESIX Contracting and Regionals with adapted strategic inputs and negotiation support or responsibility
- Manage vendor performance feedback and adapt BESIX vendor strategy
- Drive a regular market screening to adjust Vendor panel development
- Identify and execute opportunities on price reduction (Tendering & Execution) according to objectives including group synergies
- Challenge specifications with a strong focus on innovation sustainability and outofthe boxthinking
Qualifications :
Background
- Bachelor degree in Mechanics
- Masters degree Engineer is a plus
- Procurement certification / degree is a plus
- 2 to 5 year experience in the steel category (as Procurement or technical expert)
- 3 to 7 year experience in technical industries
