Job Description
- Maintain fleet to a high standard demanded by the ministry of transport ensuring the Health & Safety of our drivers
- Follow guidelines set by ministry of transport on operators licence
- Carry out detailed and informed diagnostics to avoid any extra cost or time
- Work safely join in with PGIs and safety action teams
- Deal with breakdowns by diagnosing problem on the phone and discussing with contractor if necessary
- Continually keep ahead of new and fast changing technology and willingness to learn and go on any course required that may improve knowledge
- Maintain all paperwork legally required and enter all parts and time on the inhouse fleet management computer
- Any other duties as reasonably assigned.
The job requires decisions around breakdowns parts and time used to correctly run the fleet.
Qualifications :
- The job requires the mechanic to have a recognised HGV apprenticeship to be able to carry out duties competently.
- Drive for results by having the ability to change with vehicle technology.
- Strong communication skills at every level both internally and externally
- Comfortable to discuss tasks with other team members and pass on learning.
- A good relationship with fellow Team of inhouse Techs VMU Manager drivers Operations and other parts of the business is essential to maintain relationships.
