Position Overview:
The Hospital is dedicated to providing highquality care and exceptional service to patients in a compassionate and collaborative environment. As a Registered Nurse in the PostAnesthesia Care Unit (PACU) you will be responsible for assessing and preparing patients for surgery closely monitoring them during the recovery phase and assisting in their transfer or discharge. You will care for patients recovering from surgery including those requiring higher acuity care such as those with chest tubes central lines arterial lines multiple IVs or longer ventilator support. In addition you will oversee medical and surgical observation patients admitted to observation beds from the emergency department or postsurgery. The role requires call shifts and you will receive guidance from providers anesthesia staff nurse managers and charge nurses while directing LPNs and CNAs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and prepare patients for surgery and anesthesia.
  • Monitor patients through the recovery phase ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Assist in the transfer or discharge of patients from the hospital.
  • Provide care for patients with higher acuity including those requiring chest tubes central lines arterial lines and extended ventilator support.
  • Supervise medical and surgical observation patients admitted to observation beds.
  • Coordinate with the surgical team anesthesia providers and nursing staff to deliver optimal care.
  • Participate in oncall rotations as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: RN Nursing Program.
  • Experience: Minimum 24 years of recent hospital experience in Med/Surgical or Critical Care Nursing.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Current MT RN Licensure.
    • BLS ACLS and PALS certifications required.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Strong understanding of basic nursing principles and procedures.
    • Critical care nursing experience preferred.
    • IV insertion and management skills.
    • Basic office skills.
