Position Overview:
Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In this role you will provide care for patients who are hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable typically in a medical/surgical setting. You will support patients physically emotionally and spiritually addressing a wide range of conditions including pre and postsurgical care chronic diseases and complex medical issues.

As a PCU nurse you will operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with conditions such as heart failure (CHF) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) renal failure sepsis DVT pulmonary embolism (PE) and more. You will also provide care for patients with central lines chest tubes arterial lines and those requiring shortterm ventilation support. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all patients receive highquality care and achieve the best possible outcomes.

This role also includes clinical leadership responsibilities such as precepting staff and assisting with the coordination of patient care from admission to discharge. You will be expected to act with minimal supervision implementing established policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and care excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Monitor patients with advanced medical needs including central lines chest tubes and ventilator support.
  • Utilize advanced medical equipment such as IV pumps Alines and telemetry units.
  • Assess and intervene in deteriorating patient conditions using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Guide and mentor LPNs CNAs and other support staff to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Ensure smooth discharge planning and patient education.
  • Maintain high standards of professional nursing practice while interacting effectively with patients and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Experience:
    • Recent experience in Critical Care or Progressive Care Nursing required.
    • Experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical Unit preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Current Montana RN Licensure required.
    • BLS ACLS and PALS certifications required or to be completed within 6 months of hire.
    • EPNC TNCC certification preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Proficiency in the use of basic office equipment and advanced medical technology including IV pumps Alines and telemetry.
    • Ability to interpret EKGs and monitor basic cardiac telemetry.
    • Strong foundation in advanced nursing principles and procedures.
    • Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
