Job Overview:
The Nuclear Medical Technologist provides healthcare services utilizing radionuclides for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. This role involves performing a wide variety of nuclear medicine procedures as well as handling computer data processing and other technical tasks to produce diagnostic images under the direction of a licensed practitioner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a range of nuclear medicine procedures utilizing appropriate imaging techniques.
- Operate and maintain imaging and computer equipment to ensure quality images are produced.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for patient imaging under proper safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient care and proper examination protocols.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and confirm that the study is complete for physician interpretation.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an AMAapproved Radiologic Technologist training program.
- National Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) certification upon hire.
- National Registered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRTN) upon hire.
- California Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association upon hire.
- At least 6 months of nuclear medicine experience within the last year OR a minimum of 2 years fulltime experience with an absence from nuclear medicine no longer than 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in nuclear medicine (not required if recently graduated from an accredited technician training program).
Tools & Technology Experience:
- Familiarity with radiology information systems and PACS.
- Understanding of radioactive materials handling and safety protocols.
