Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiation Therapist. As an ARRT Registered Radiation Therapist you will be responsible for administering radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist to patients with cancer. This position involves working with a diverse patient population including individuals of all age groups from newborns to geriatrics. In addition to working directly with patients you will collaborate with physicians nurses family members and coworkers requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will play a key role in delivering highquality care and providing support to patients throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to physicians prescriptions and treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process and ensure they are comfortable throughout the treatment.
- Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists nurses and other healthcare team members to ensure effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor patients during therapy ensuring their safety and addressing any concerns or discomfort.
- Work with medical equipment ensuring proper calibration maintenance and safety procedures.
- Provide explanations of radiation therapy procedures to patients medical staff and the public.
- Support the smooth operation of the Radiation Oncology Department by assisting in any necessary tasks as needed.
- Adhere to infection control policies and protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of radiation therapy practices including the safe and effective administration of radiation treatment.
- Ability to explain radiation therapy procedures to patients their families and other medical professionals.
- Prior experience in a Radiation Oncology Department is desirable but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients families and team members.
- A professional courteous and selfmotivated attitude demonstrating the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to receive and respond appropriately to constructive feedback.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education as prescribed by JCAHO and ARRT.
Working Hours:
- Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
