Client is currently running an unsupported version of Rational BuildForge (v7.1.1) on Windows Server 2003. The objective of this project is to install a newer version of the product (v8.x) using Oracle 19c and running in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment and to migrate data from the current instance.
1: Confirm requirements and technical landscape
Review the topology and capacity of the current production environment.
- Confirm the requirements for the new environment.
- Update the project schedule as needed based on information gathered in this Activity.
Deliverables
- Summary of the asis and tobe hosting environments including dependencies.
- Updated project schedule.
2: Install Rational BuildForge and related components
- Validate that the license server is running in the target environment.
- Validate that the database is running.
- Install Rational BuildForge for the target environment.
Deliverables
Installation log for all components installed and validated in the target environment.
3: Migrate data from old instance of Rational BuildForge
- Export data from the old instance of Rational BuildForge.
- Validate the exported XML file.
- Import the exported data for active projects only into the new instance of Rational BuildForge.
Deliverables
- Verification that data from active projects have been successfully exported from the current environment and imported into the upgraded environment .
- Note:
- Data from inactive project in the current instance of Rational BuildForge will not be exported. That data can be viewed by accessing the current (old) instance of Rational BuildForge.
4:Verify deployment of Rational BuildForge in the target environments
- Work with Claro to validate successful operation of Rational BuildForge in the target environments.
- Identify and take corrective action for any missing data or components that should be part of the new installation and environment.
Deliverables
Signoff by the End Customer that the new installation of Rational BuildForge is working as expected.
5:Train users and facilitate handover to Claro team
- Deliver product training to Rational BuildForge users with an emphasis on new features
- Formally handover the new instances of Rational BuildForge to the Customer Client team.
Deliverables
- Enablement materials.
- Acceptance by the Customer Client of the handover of the new Rational BuildForge instances.
