Overview:
As a Mental Health Counselor Intern you will play a vital role in providing support and therapeutic services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role is crucial in helping clients navigate their emotions behaviors and relationships ultimately contributing to their overall wellbeing and the communitys mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in individual and group counseling sessions under supervision
- Conduct client assessments and develop treatment plans
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in distress
- Assist in the development and implementation of therapeutic activities
- Facilitate psychoeducation and support groups
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive client care
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records

- Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions
- Conduct community outreach and mental health education initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a Masters level counseling or social work program
- Knowledge of counseling theories and techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Understanding of ethical and legal standards in mental health counseling
- Experience in client assessment and treatment planning
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to client care
