Overview
The Senior Medical Officer in Fellowship Critical Care plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional healthcare services in the fastpaced critical care environment of Dwarka Delhi. This position is integral to the healthcare team ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are met for critically ill patients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing patient management implementing evidencebased protocols and mentoring junior medical staff in critical care settings. By collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams the Senior Medical Officer will enhance patient outcomes and optimize critical care processes. Furthermore this role involves active participation in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research contributing to advancements in critical medicine. As an experienced practitioner the Senior Medical Officer embodies leadership providing guidance and support in complex patient situations while promoting a culture of safety and excellence within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine patient needs and develop targeted care plans.
- Utilize advanced clinical skills to perform procedures as needed such as intubation and central line placement.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior medical staff and fellows.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Ensure compliance with established clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in case reviews providing insight into complex patient situations.
- Implement evidencebased practices to improve patient outcomes.
- Assist in the development of clinical protocols and quality assurance initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing medical education (CME) opportunities.
- Document patient care accurately and promptly in electronic health records (EHR).
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to peerreviewed publications as applicable.
- Manage patient transfers and consultations with specialty services as required.
- Participate in departmental meetings and clinical decisionmaking processes.
- Support the improvement of critical care services by providing feedback and suggestions.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate qualification in critical care medicine anesthesiology or related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in intensive care or critical care settings.
- Current medical license to practice in India.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology related to critical care.
- Proficiency in managing ventilators and other critical care equipment.
- Experience in mentoring and training medical staff.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients families and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in highstress environments.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards.
- Active participation in continuous professional development and relevant medical training.
