Job Description: Ceramist

Main Responsibilities:

• Analyze prescriptions and specifications received from dentists to accurately understand the required dental restorations.
  
• Mix porcelain powders and liquids in correct proportions to achieve desired shades consistency and moisture content ensuring the porcelain is free from air bubbles and overwetting.
  
• Apply body porcelain in proper layering sequences to achieve functional and aesthetic anatomy including forming lobes ridges and cusp tips.
  
• Check centric occlusion using opposing models and make necessary adjustments.
  
• Remove dies from models to finish contacts accurately and ensure proper adaptation of porcelain to metal.
  
• Add enamel porcelain in the correct sequence for enhanced aesthetics.
  
• Fire porcelain at the correct temperature and duration then cool units to match the models.
  
• Examine margins ensure thorough porcelain condensation and achieve precise adaptation to underlying structures.
  
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure tools and materials remain uncontaminated.
  
• Follow through on the entire porcelain stacking procedure without interruptions to ensure quality.
  
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  

Essential Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  
• Certified Dental Technician (preferred).
  
• Minimum of 67 years of experience as a Ceramist in a professional dental laboratory or similar setting.
  

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in preparing and handling dental porcelain.
  
• Thorough understanding of firing and layering techniques to achieve desired results.
  
• Excellent eyehand coordination for precision and fine detail work.
  
• Ability to read write and understand English for interpreting prescriptions and collaborating effectively.
  
• Strong focus on aesthetics and functionality in dental restorations.
