Legal Assistant – Litigation Trust Wills and Estates

Location: Vancouver Canada
Category: Legal Assistant
Job Type: Fulltime
Salary Range: $50000 $70000

A Day In The Life

The Legal Assistant contributes to the efficient daytoday operations by providing clerical and administrative support to lawyers. This involves exceptional practice management and client service the ability to handle competing priorities and maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Handle all administrative duties such as email and calendar management coordinating meetings attending to conflict searches file opening/closing preparing expense reports engagement letters and routine correspondence.
  • Prepare and maintain a bringforward system and provide appropriate reminders.
  • Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and uptodate regularly.
  • Liaise with Billing Coordinators for the monthly production of accounts.
  • Provide backup coverage in the absence of other assistants or team members.
  • Perform conflict searches open files complete client identification/verification and prepare retainer letters.
  • Conduct basic online searches (Wills registry municipal tax corporate registry land title office etc.).
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of estate trust and corporate documents and records.
  • Communicate with clients and potential clients to collect information schedule meetings and answer inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a postsecondary Legal Assistant or Paralegal course.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience (large firm experience preferred) in Wills and Estates or Corporate.
  • Experience with BC Online BC Registries MyLTSA ALF is an asset.
  • Indepth understanding of business and legal terminology.
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience working with 3E iManageWork DocuSign.

  • Ability to manage the practices of multiple lawyers.

  • Ability to work under pressure manage multiple priorities and multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and also be a flexible team player.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Compensation

The typical salary range for this position is $50000 $70000 annually. The base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills experience internal and market equity.
