Job Description
Overview
The Shift Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations and maintenance of equipment within the organization. They are responsible for ensuring that all systems are running efficiently and addressing any technical issues that may arise during their shift. The Shift Engineer is integral to maintaining a smooth workflow and preventing downtime by promptly addressing technical challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems
- Oversee the operation of electrical systems
- Address and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
- Coordinate with maintenance to optimize workflow
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure optimal functionality
- Train and mentor junior staff in technical skills and best practices
- Manage and document all maintenance and inspection activities
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Analyze equipment performance and propose improvements
- Participate in planning and scheduling of maintenance activities
- Collaborate with other departments to improve overall operational efficiency
- Respond to emergency situations to minimize downtime and safety risks
- Document and report on shift activities including incidents and resolutions
Required qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or ITI or Diploma in Electrical
- Proven experience as a Shift Engineer or similar role
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures and best practices
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to work well under pressure and in fastpaced environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detailoriented with strong organizational abilities
- Proficient in using technical tools and equipment
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multitask effectively
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs
