Job Description
Overview
The Tester plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products. As an experienced member of the quality assurance team the Tester collaborates with developers product owners and other stakeholders to validate software features and functionality. With a focus on both manual and automated testing techniques the Tester contributes to the continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle. This position requires analytical skills attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards problemsolving. The Tester not only identifies defects early in the development process but also ensures that final products meet company and user standards. Originally considered an ancillary role Testing now occupies a central position especially as organizations increasingly prioritize software quality in a competitive market. Overall the Tester is responsible for creating comprehensive testing strategies that mitigate risks enhance user satisfaction and ensure seamless user experiences across all applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans test cases and test scripts to validate software functionality.
- Perform manual and automated testing based on project requirements.
- Identify report and track software defects using a bugtracking tool.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure new features do not disrupt existing functionality.
- Participate in requirements reviews and design reviews to identify testing needs.
- Create and maintain test documentation including test strategies and reports.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment practices for the testing process.
- Perform API testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI.
- Utilize SQL for database testing and data verification.
- Execute performance and load testing to assess application scalability.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and testing tools.
- Provide input for process improvements within the QA team.
- Work in Agile/Scrum environments participating in daily standups and sprint planning.
- Mentor junior testers in quality assurance processes and techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 68 years of experience in software testing including both manual and automated testing.
- Proficient in using testing tools such as Selenium JUnit or TestNG.
- Strong understanding of software development and software testing life cycles.
- Experience with API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI.
- Familiarity with database testing and SQL.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.
- Experience in performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Experience with bug tracking tools like Jira or Bugzilla.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Software Testing certifications (e.g. ISTQB or CSTE) are a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
- Proactive approach to problemsolving and testing efficiency.
